Slaughter and May is one of the most prestigious law firms in the world. The strength of their global practice is reflected both in the multi-jurisdictional nature of their work and their international client base. The firm is a trusted adviser to some of the largest global companies in the world.
There are distinct differences that set Slaughter and May apart from other global law firms. These differences are in relation to their international approach, multi-specialist training, and lack of billable targets.
Slaughter and May work with the very best law firms across the globe to support their clients, handpicked to meet the needs of each matter, to deliver integrated legal advice. Fundamental to their business model is the ability to work in partnership with other law firms – this is how they have built their successful global practice.
Slaughter and May offer opportunities for Year 12 students to learn more about the firm. Their Excellerators Programme provides an insight into the many different professions at an international law firm, ranging from lawyers to business services, including legal technology, global client development and responsible business. The weeklong, virtual programme is a chance for students across the UK to gain an insight into working life at Slaughter and May, as well as essential employability skills through interactive workshops, hands-on tasks and networking sessions. Applications for the 2023 programme are closed, but will reopen in March 2024 for next year’s programme.
Slaughter and May takes great store in drawing strength from diversity and believes that an inclusive workplace drives collaboration and enhances business performance. They are looking to employ the brightest minds regardless of what or where they studied. They offer open days, workshops, and work experience schemes to enable applicants to gain an insight into life as a commercial lawyer
